We report to the school any incidents that happen inside the bus during the school run e.g. if there is a case of misconduct that might need to be reported to a parent.

Why chaperones are so important?

Chaperones are vital because they ensure the safety and safeguarding of children at all times. Relying solely on the driver to supervise children and concentrate on the road and vehicle is a high risk.

Our chaperones permit the driver to concentrate on their job and assist in the event of breakdown or emergency. They ensure that students are seated with seat-belts in place and maintain good behaviour.

Having an adult in charge of the children’s safety during the route makes parents more comfortable in using the taxi service and sending their children to that specific school.

We know that you can put cameras on a bus – but the fact still remains that it is solely the driver in charge of the vehicle and the passengers, and the road must be their priority.

Why is it important to use an independent company?

We have designed our own training, equipment and safeguarding elements in-house.

We employ the right chaperone for each particular taxi route, obtain the correct and legal documentation including Enhanced DBS checks. We have a dedicated chaperone manager who permanently supervises the children and taxi route and immediately supply replacement chaperones if required.

How does the communication between chaperones, parents and schools work?

We communicate all issues to the school, whether they are related to children, or the journey itself. We then work together with schools and parents to solve any problems. Our chaperones are trained to facilitate open communication by providing a point of contact. We have also developed a new app which facilitates and improves both communication between parties and efficiency of the overall service.

Our technology seamlessly integrates three user- types and enables realtime updates, tracking and registration of children and communication between users.

Our chaperones remain regardless of whether bus companies change their drivers or the school decides to change bus company providers.

Using school staff also lacks the continuity Leasehire provides as teachers are often not able to stick to one taxi route, morning and afternoon all five days of the week throughout the year. Not being linked to school staff there is no conflict of interest when it comes to monitoring the taxi service quality.
